Multiple discrimination appears in situations when an individual experiences discrimination on various discriminatory grounds simultaneously. For example, an individual is treated less favourably not just on the grounds of ethnic origin, but also due to gender (pregnancy) or disability.
example Multiple discrimination occurs in cases when an employer is ready to employ ethnic Slovak women or Roma men, but denies jobs to Roma women. It may also occur in cases where a nightclub permits entry to all women and heterosexual men, but denies entry to homosexual men.
In Slovakia, multiple discrimination is not explicitly prohibited by law rather its impermissibility stems from the law implicitly. However, there have been no decisions of courts to establish an authoritative interpretation.
